Love Machine

Album Cover Design

I'm always quite fascinated by hoaxes and urban legends, especially when they bring my love of music into play.

One in particular that always attracted my interest was "Love Machine," an alleged 'lost' collaboration album by Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder which, unfortunately, never existed outside of an Internet rumor. When I set about compiling this album, as all of the songs it allegedly contained did exist in some form, I decided to take it one step further.

The original rumor described the album's cover as depicting Donna Summer "traipsing gaily" between enormous circuit boards. Finding a photo of Donna seemingly "traipsing gaily" wasn't too difficult, thanks to the cover photo of her "Love Trilogy" LP - so all that was left was to transplant her from her original cloud-filled fantasy scene into a Photoshopped labyrinth of circuitry. Needless to say, the final result is easily one of my favorite pieces.... and I must happily give thanks to whoever started that rumor and prompted its creation!
